So many things

Posted by on July 16, 2009

It has been quite a while since I have updated on what Kate has been up to.  Time just seems to fly by!

I am at home today because Kate has been sick.  We went to the doctor yesterday and found out she not only has/had a stomach virus but also an ear infection.  She has been quite the little trooper through it all.  The doctor was shocked that I had no clue that she had an ear infection, Kate had not indicated in any way that it was bothering her.  Poor baby.  So anyway she was restricted to just Pedialyte for 24hours and then 1/2 pedialyte and 1/2 formula for another 24 hours…giving her a little at a time, which she is not always so happy about.  Shockingly she slept pretty good last night considering.  She really has done good today and has not thrown up at all, which is GREAT!  So hopefully she is on the mend and the antibiotics will kick the ear infection in the butt :)

This past weekend was a big one for Kate.  On Saturday morning she attended her big cousin Lila’s 3rd birthday party in Alexandria at McDonald’s.  I know she was just dying to eat cake and play in the indoor play gym (?), but instead we made her eat formula and just watch the other kids play.  We are such mean parents ;) Then Saturday night she had her very first overnight stay without her Mama and Daddy :O  And guess what?  We all survived! :)   Kory’s birthday was Sunday and so we decided to go camping and I don’t think Kate is up for that just yet.  So, she went and stayed with Missy and Pop while we pitched a tent a Lake Claiborne.  Missy and Pop both said that she was a perfect, and I made it through and only called once to check on her!!

Our little girl really is growing up, already to fast.  I just know she is going to be crawling, then walking, then talking before we know it.  The one positive thing that I can say about her being sick is that I get a lot of snuggling out of it!!  She does not do that much anymore, I guess she already thinks she is to big for it ;)   Now she is rolling over from back to belly and belly to back, she can sit up for a short amount of time if you get her positioned just right, and she can “inch” and get her toys when you place them away from her.  We are reading more and more these days, she holds her little squeezable books while I read the bigger colorful books.  I think she enjoys it.  (Thanks Aunt Janice!!!)

On one hand I say she is growing up to fast but on the other hand I am ready for her to be able to really communicate with us and to really play.  I just love her soooo much!!

I only have a couple of pictures to show, sorry!

Over this past Christmas break Caroline had pneumonia, and the thing I remember most is how much she wanted to snuggle. I guess God gives us something good to help deal with the bad!
